The U.S. Embassy in Maputo is recruiting a Repairs Supervisor, to be based in Maputo.
Duties
- Working directly under the Maintenance Supervisor, supervises a team of technicians and foremen in the performance of routine and emergency maintenance actions
- Assist in managing completion of repairs utilizing a system of work order requests for all systems in the Embassy and associated annexes as well as all residences
- Develops, organizes, and plans schedules and workflows in conjunction with the work order clerk and customer service liaison
- Schedules technicians
- Documents, follows up and insures correction of maintenance or repair deficiencies
- Initiates disciplinary actions when necessary and in accordance with HR approved disciplinary methods
- Verifies time and attendance and makes recommendations for approval of leave for staff
- Submits procurement requests through automated systems to procurement and contracting teams to facilitate purchases of required materials (both stock materials and single requirements), and contracted services as required
- Prepares detailed plans and schedules and holds the team accountable for meeting them
- Follows all USG rules and requirements including those governing procurements, tracking of materials, recommended documentation formats and methods, and human resources procedures
- Available to be on call after hours and for occasional weekend work is required
Requisites
- College Degree
- Possession of a current valid driver’s license, and possess the ability to operate vehicles with manual gearbox (transmission)
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a contractor or direct residential and building construction, to include minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
- Level III (good working knowledge) English
- Level III (good working knowledge) Portuguese
- A thorough knowledge of building codes, electrical and mechanical components of residential construction
- Knowledge of equipment, repair methods and cost analysis
- Skills in all aspects of building construction, repairs, and maintenance
- Skills to train and mentor trades people and to work with landlords and other external entities
- Basic computer skills
