The High Commission Of Canada in Mozambique is recruiting a Social Media Manager / Political Analyst, to be based in Maputo.
Duties
- Prepares reports on key political developments in Mozambique relevant to Canadian interests
- Takes leadership in managing the High Commission’s social media presence including developing outreach and advocacy strategies
- Expands and manages a network of contacts with Mozambican government departments and the media
- Liaises with political parties and civil society organizations on key issues – elections, democratization, human rights, accountability, and government transparency
- Facilitates coordination of activities of the Political Program, Trade/Investment and the Development Assistance Program
- Manages the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) program including project selection, supervising Country Coordinators (Mozambique, Malawi and Swaziland), and year-end reporting – travels when required
- Has responsibility within the political section for providing written translation and oral interpretation as required
- Serves as quality control for official correspondence in Portuguese
- Performs other duties as required
Requisites
- Fluency in Portuguese and English with excellent writing ability in both languages (French is an asset)
- Education - University degree in a related field
- Extensive experience using Social Media
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a related area (ex. international relations, journalism, public relations, communications, marketing et)
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of Mozambican political dynamics
- Knowledge of the global political and economic environment
- Ability to travel
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage in research and apply analytical thinking
- Eligible to work in Mozambique
