Rare is recruiting a Office Operations Associate, to be based in Maputo.
Duties
- Manage program financial functions to ensure the adoption and implementation of procedures for donor requirements, agreements management, accounting, budgeting and audits as set by Rare’s Finance department
- Facilitate local Talent/HR processes to ensure that annual human capital audits allow Rare to manage and mitigate risk, expedite recruitment and new hire onboarding, improve performance management, support growth and development of staff, and increase staff engagement in the region
- Facilitate a program office management environment that is efficient, effective and conducive to promoting an enjoyable place to work where staff can thrive and engage one another
- Develop and implement operational policies and practices that ensure IT and operational effectiveness including staff safety and awareness with the local environment
Requisites
- Demonstrated ability in financial management, budget preparation and management with the ability to accurately and efficiently review and analyze detailed financial, operational, contract and legal information
- Experience managing the finances of an organization within a diverse funding environment that includes support from US and European governments, multi-laterals, and large foundations preferred
- Familiarity with the local fiscal and labor requirements for successfully managing a non-profit organization under program law in Mozambique
- Excellent organizational skills, discretion, and ability to prioritize and multi-task and effective communication skills required; prior supervisory experience helpful
- Fluency in English and Portuguese – both written and oral – required
- Willingness to travel, often to very remote locations, based on needs of the position (up to 20% on annual average)
- Knowledge of computer software, such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint to review and produce reports
- Bachelor’s degree is required
