Data Manager

US Embassy is recruiting a Data Manager, to be based in Maputo.

Duties

• The incumbent, under the supervision of the Associate Director for Science, CDC Mozambique Office (Maputo), provides support to CDC Mozambique and its implementing partner, including the Ministry of Health, contributing a broad range of data management and statistical support to public health managers, epidemiologists, behavioral scientists, program specialists and other professional staff collaborating on CDC-supported programs, public health evaluations, and operational research projects
• Support includes participation in the development of and/or review of public health evaluation protocols, leading database development and data management, determining appropriate basic statistical methods to the analysis of program and research project data, conducting statistical investigation of issues related to public health evaluation projects and the implementation of statistical software applications to address epidemiological and surveillance activities for HIV/AIDS and related diseases, and training/capacity building activities in data management

Requisites

• Graduation from an accredited university with a bachelor’s level degree in statistics, bio-statistics, computer programming, data management or related field
• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in data management or programming and analysis of data, including at least 2 years of experience in analysis using SPSS, SAS, STATA or similar statistical software package, is required
• Applicants may be requested to perform a small sample study design or statistical task at the time of interview and hiring to demonstrate technical proficiency in these areas. Past experience will demonstrate the incumbent’s ability to consult and collaborate effectively with all levels both within and outside the agency
• Level IV English (fluency in both written and oral) is required. Incumbent must be able to contribute significantly to the composition of complex and highly complex written documents
