WCS is recruiting a Conservation Monitoring Technician, to be based Niassa.
Duties
- Interest and capacity in ecological research and monitoring, a high degree of computer and technical literacy and a willingness to learn
- Further, the positions requires a high level of attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
- Further the successful candidate will be expected to be able to handle significant time in the field under often basic and challenging conditions
Requisites
- Educational background in Natural Resource/ Forestry Management or related fields
- Minimum of 2-years field experience working in conservation areas
- Proven ability to use technological tools for conservation, including GPS, data recording softwares, data management programs (GIS, Excel)
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in Portuguese and English, particularly relating to scientific technical writing and ability to transfer technical knowledge and skills to others
- Self-motivated, disciplined and comfortable working in rudimentary and remote field camps for extended periods of time
- Flexibility, optimism, good humour, passion for excellence, self-motivated to achieve a collective purpose
