Generator Technician

US Embassy is recruiting a Generator Technician, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

Duties

• The Incumbent serves as a Generator Technician requiring knowledge of the principles of electricity generation and Diesel Engines used as driver/prime mover for diesel powered electrical generators
• Responsible for the accurate interpretation of numerous manufacturer drawings, specifications, operating instructions and test procedures, troubleshooting, calibration, alignment and repair of a variety of highly complex diesel generators and switch gear of multiple brands or manufacturers used for standby/emergency power capability
• This includes identifying, repairing or replacing numerous electronic (both digital and analog) and mechanical components
• It also includes the repair of electronically controlled engines. Troubleshoots repairs, adjusts and aligns down-sized equipment
• Uses advanced diagnostic test equipment such as analyzers, digital meters, oscilloscopes and other measuring devices to determine repair requirements

Requisites

• Completion of an accredited technical training course or vocational certificate as a diesel engine mechanic OR electrician
• Minimum of three years’ experience as an electrician is required
• Level III English - working knowledge – speaking/reading/writing is required (To be tested)
• Level III Portuguese – working knowledge – speaking/reading/writing is required (To be tested)
• Possession of local driver’s license is required
