Junior Associate, Planning & Communications

GAIN is recruiting a Junior Associate, Planning & Communications, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

Duties
  • Conduct assessments of private sector company policies and practices, and design corresponding offerings for nutrition interventions
  • Conceptualization and implementation of workforce nutrition activities in collaboration with the private sector
  • Attract, register and retain private sector/associations to promote workforce nutrition in the formal and informal sector
  • Outreach and engagement and building strong relationships with the private sector and key stakeholders in Mozambique
  • Establish partnership with specific trade/sector associations, influence key opinion leaders/private sector, and other relevant stakeholders on the importance of the project objective
  • Provide technical support in nutritious food value chain analysis and development, in market development approaches and in business support capacity building to the project team and to the stakeholders of the project including relevant government agencies and other key institutions
  • Identify opportunities and build partnership with local food processing industries on development and access to nutrition rich recipes for the workers and their children that are fully compliant to the local culture, context and legislation
  • Foster contacts and relations with governments, ministries, the employers' and workers' organizations, other value chain and sectorial stakeholders, non governmental organizations, target groups and donors, and promote opportunities for collaboration towards planning and implementation of programme activities
    Liaise with the other UN agencies counterparts to promote GAIN’s values, increase the project's visibility and facilitate the scaling-up of the project's interventions
  • Engage key government sectors including the regulatory body to advocate for the development, revision and harmonization of appropriate policies, directives, standards and guidelines Impact Assessment of the project (in close collaboration with the M&E Expert)
  • Conduct evaluation research tasks with the private sector landscape in Mozambique
  • Developing a framework and KPIs for impact assessment
  • Commissioning and overseeing an evaluation of the programme of work
  • Gather and analyses evaluation data from across the project, responsible for producing high quality reports
  • Update monthly and quarterly program reports, developing tools and templates, under the guidance of the SBN Lead
  • Contribute to writing reports or evaluation research findings for staff across the project, under the guidance of the SBN Lead
  • Establish and coordinate the monthly and quarterly performance data collection processes, ensuring that regular reports are produced, and that data is inputted correctly and analyzed
  • Coordinate the collection of various data from teams across the project and external contractors for regular monitoring reports
  • Carry out other associated duties as may arise, develop or be assigned in line with the broad remit of the project
  • Key Organizational Relationships:
  • Reports to SUN Business Network (SBN) Lead Mozambique
  • Regular engagement with the SUN Secretariat
  • Collaboration with the wider Mozambique country team
  • Regular engagement with the private sector in Mozambique

Requisites
  • Solid experience in the design of workplace health or nutrition interventions
  • Strong understanding of health and nutrition in the workplace
  • Experience in the assessments of private sector company policies and practices
  • Track-record of successful nutrition interventions and impact assessment of such project
  • Demonstrated experience in applying program life cycle management and practical knowledge about Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Solid understanding and experience of working with the private sector
  • Solid experience of managing multi stakeholders
  • Experience in working across sectors to deliver complex projects/programs
  • Existing network of private sector partners a plus
  • Experience in working in an international environment is a plus
  • Qualified to Bachelors or Masters’ degree level in development studies/management/international relations/health/economics/business or other social sciences, or equivalent experience
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally in country
  • The applicant should be a Mozambique national or have the right to work in Mozambique
  • Fluent in both English and Portuguese is essential
