- TechnoServe Mozambique is working with SIDA to design and implement a five-year, Women in Business (WIN) program to support women entrepreneurs and women-led micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) in high-potential sectors across the country. The Program will start with a six month inception phase, which will result in a proposal for a final program design to SIDA at the end of the inception phase
- TechnoServe is utilizing a market systems development and facilitation approach to support the growth and efficiency of women entrepreneurs and women-led micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) by overcoming system-level constraints. Outputs will include more sustainable system-wide changes – constant upgrading of core and supporting products and services, rules and increased crowding in of investment
- The Business Adviser will facilitate activities related to a portion of deliverables under the Women in Business Program. The Business Advisor will work with Technoserve’s team members, consultants and market actors to design and roll out strategies that meet the program’s overall goal
Duties
- Contribute to the implementation of Program activities related to market research, stakeholder engagement and capacity development
- Support discussions with women entrepreneurs and women owned businesses to help identify business development needs, map out potential solutions and select private and public actors to provide services
- Ensure high quality delivery of market-based services to women owned businesses
- Contribute to the Programs networking and relationship management with private and public actors outside the program to promote the program objectives and facilitate wider adoption and crowding in
- Actively participate in Program reviews and learning sessions to inform and advice on strategy
- With support from the Knowledge and Results Manager, contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the Programs effectiveness
Requisites
- Relevant academic education in relation to Economics, Statistics, Agribusiness, Business Management, Marketing, Finance and Accounting or related fields
- 3-5 years’ experience working in the private sector in management consulting, market research, banking or related fields
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing gender equality
- Track record of building and managing strong client and stakeholder relationships with private sector and government
- Knowledge and practical project experience in the application of the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) is an added advantage
- Excellent communication, analytical and strategy skills
- Confident with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Fluent in Portuguese and English
- Extremely curious
- Exceptional investigator and asker of questions
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, and can manage relationships with many different stakeholders
- Sensitive to the drivers of social or economic exclusion e.g. due to gender or age
- Pushes innovative and creative ways of thinking and working
- Ability to analyse complex issues efficiently, thoroughly understand sector dynamics, and proposes innovative solutions
- Gives constructive feedback to team mates and influences others to work better
