CESVI is recruiting a Field Officer (Disaster Risk Management) (m/f), to be based in Nhamatanda, Mozambique.
Duties
- Supports DRM consultant through engagement with communities, community leaders, and government authorities (notably INGC) to identify barrios most vulnerable to natural hazards
- Mobilizes members of target communities, community leaders, and relevant authorities to build support for DRM activities
- Facilitates community-led data collection and planning to support natural hazard mapping and development of disaster risk management plans
- Participate in review of progress, action plan objectives and proposed activities related to each village action plan
- Coordinate with Cash for Work teams and distribution teams to ensure that related activities align with DRM implementation plans
- Conducts beneficiary monitoring activities as per the request of DRM consultant
- Provides daily and weekly narrative reports to DRM consultant
- Contributes in project reports as per the request of the DRM Consultant
- Fully complies with security plans and protocols and code of conduct
Requisites
- One year experience of community mobilization and/or familiarity with participatory appraisal or community planning techniques with an NGO is a must
- Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese is a must
- Ownership of a motorbike license is a must
- Good command of English is strongly desired
- Experience in disaster hazard mapping and risk analysis, or management of needs assessments is desired
- Knowledge of Nhamatanda District and particularly Bebedo and Nhampoca localities is desired
- Good command of Sena and Ndau is desired
- Good command of Microsoft Excel, Word is desired
