CNFA is recruiting a Deputy Chief of Party - Mozambique (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- CNFA is currently seeking qualified Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) candidates for the upcoming USAID-funded Feed the Future Mozambique Market Systems Activity. The Deputy Chief of Party will support project implementation through coordination of various technical elements, managing day-to-day operations, and ensuring that objectives and milestones are achieved. This Activity will facilitate the development of a competitive agricultural market system that is inclusive, resilient, and sustainable in the provision of goods and services demanded by actors. The approach for this activity will help identify and minimize the root causes of market failure for barriers that disadvantage and exclude the vulnerable, women, and youth. This Activity will also create incentives for market actors to invest in developing and sustaining productive relationships for the efficient delivery of goods and services and an improved enabling and regulatory environment for agricultural sector growth. This Activity provides USAID the opportunity to target solutions such as: build an inclusive and responsive financial system for rural individuals and SMEs; address the inefficiencies in the inputs distribution system; establish strong and transparent relationships between actors; among others
Duties
- Serve as the principal point of contact in Mozambique for procedural and substantive matters in the absence of the COP
- Support the development of strategic plans, annual and quarterly work plans, and other deliverables in line with USAID guidelines to achieve objectives
- Support the development of strong M&E mechanisms, program monitoring tools and efficient systems to ensure high-quality implementation
- Represent CNFA with partners and key stakeholders, maintain positive relationships with USAID, local authorities, and the country office team
- Identify and effectively manage all key risks related to the program, including compliance with donor transparency and due diligence requirements
- Ensure that synergies among Activity elements and grantees are capitalized upon
- Ensure that the Activity focus remains on achieving results
- Manage an effective monitoring and reporting system
- Other duties as assigned
Requisites
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience within the East and Southern Africa region in managing agribusiness, market system development, and/or value chain development projects in Africa is required, experience in Mozambique preferred
- 5+ years of experience working on development projects aimed at increasing the competitiveness, commercialization, and inclusiveness of value chains and 3+ years of managing complex, private sector development projects with extensive local capacity building components is required
- Demonstrated professional success in the areas of agribusiness, industrial agriculture, and/or building coalitions of agricultural companies is required
- Expertise in at least one relevant area, including economics, agricultural economics, agronomy, agricultural investment, and/or a related field, is required
- International donor experience is required, USAID experience is preferred
- Professional written and spoken fluency in English and Portuguese is required
