PSI is recruiting a WASH Technical Advisor (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- PSI seeks a WASH Technical Advisor to oversee the development of strategies for strengthening the sanitation market in Mozambique to make it easier for consumers to access sanitation products and services under an anticipated 5-year USAID-funded project with PSI Mozambique
- The project anticipates supporting the increase of sustainable access to sanitation services in Mozambique, focusing on small towns and peri-urban areas. The overall strategic goal is to improve communities’ well-being, especially women and girls in Mozambique, by ensuring increased use and sustainable management of sanitation services via the two interrelated objectives: 1) Availability of water and sanitation services expanded; 2) Adoption of key WASH behaviors accelerated
Duties
- Provide technical expertise on sanitation for small towns, market development, including private sector engagement and capacity building, design of sanitation products and service improvements and entrepreneurship
- Ensure institutional engagement in support of private sector participation and represent the project on public-private sector issues at strategic planning meetings with collaborators and donors
- Lead market segmentation activities and collection and dissemination of market intelligence
- Work with government and private-sector actors to develop high-quality, affordable products and fecal sludge management services
- Build the capacity of collaborators in reliable service provision
- Engage private sector actors to strengthen the sanitation supply chain
- Collaborate with the demand creation team to increase sustained consumer demand for services
- Work with relevant government actors to strengthen the enabling environment for market-based sanitation
Requisites
- Master’s Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or WASH-related field
- At least 7 years of experience in a position with similar responsibilities, preferably in urban sanitation, with extensive experience in Mozambique
- Experience building capacity of private sector businesses and developing viable service delivery models to reach diverse consumers
- Ability to develop business and financial models for small/medium-sized businesses that get results
- Demonstrated track record working with the private sector and private-public partnerships
- Experience managing a team of staff preferred
- Excellent diplomatic, oral/written skills and presentation abilities
- Fluent in Portuguese (spoken and written) and have basic competency in English
- Citizen of Mozambique
