PSI is recruiting a Social Behavior Change (SBC) Director (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- PSI is seeking a SBC Director to oversee the social behavior change activities under an upcoming project within the SRHR and HIV health areas. The project anticipates supporting the development of SBC activities to increase the adoption of healthy behaviors within the SRHR and HIV areas in Mozambique. The overall strategic goal of this position is to manage the SBC projects, ensuring the activities are delivered according to the project objectives and defined deliverables. The SBC Director and its team will also provide support to other SBC activities across the country office
Duties
- Provides strategic direction and leadership to design, plan, and implement SBC activities across the project, including monitoring design, adaptive learning and contribution to evaluation design, planning, and formative research of SBC activities
- Manages and leads the development of the project strategy and implementation to address the project deliverables, in collaboration with other team leaders
- Manages and guides its team, internal and external partners to ensure efficient, quality and timely implementation of all the project deliverables, within social and behavior change communication, community outreach, and social media
- Design and manage comprehensive SRHR and HIV behavior change initiatives that are based on identification of influential behavioral determinants of SRHR and HIV behaviors for priority audiences, and engaging beneficiaries in intervention design and development
- Ensures the timeliness, cost and quality of all activities related to social and behavior change communication. From work plan, budget development and control and reporting for the project activities
- Establish solid and durable Government and Donors’ relations, by ensuring regular coordination with the key stakeholders and requesting their buy-in when project implementation milestones are achieved. The SBC Director will meet regularly with donors and government officials to make sure that PSI/Mozambique work is valued and recognized
- Oversee programmatic and technical aspects related to comprehensive, multi-layered SBC activities, ensuring SBC efforts are evidence-based, community-driven and in line with provisions of the award. Works with the M&E team to develop indicators and mechanisms for tracking SBC activities and accomplishments
Requisites
- Master’s degree in one of the following or related fields: Public Health, Health promotion or other related fields, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in project management (including financial management), within developing countries’ governments, CSOs, NGOs, and/or the private sector
- At least 5 years' experience in the management design, implementation, and/or assessment of SBC programs across health areas in a developing country, preferably with experience in Mozambique
- Experience in providing technical leadership in SBC/behavioral sciences and/or program wide activities, including technical leadership in monitoring design, adaptive learning and contribution to evaluation design, planning, formative research of SBC activities
- Experience managing teams, motivating and guiding them to implement and deliver with quality
- Experience managing external partners to implement the designed activities
- Experience in cultivating stakeholder relationships representing a broad range of functions and levels including with donors, government agencies, partner staff, and other NGOs
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Portuguese are required
- Strong preference for a citizen of Mozambique
