WWF is recruiting a Visual Communications Intern, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
  • The Visual Communications Intern will assist the Communications Department in producing high-quality visual content that effectively conveys WWF’s strategic objectives and engages diverse audiences across various platforms
  • The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is one of the major conservation organizations in the world and has been working in Mozambique since the early 2000s. The Mozambique Country Office (MCO) has made significant contributions over the years, ranging from supporting the establishment of conservation areas to working with local communities to strengthen their capabilities and motivation to engage in conservation, and actively influence decision-making processes and practice. WWF MCO is currently implementing its second country strategy (2020-2030), whose goal is to influence and ensure sound management and responsible stewardship and use of Mozambique’s unique biodiversity for the benefit of present and future generations
  • As visual storytelling becomes an increasingly important part of WWF’s communications efforts, the role of a Visual Communications Intern is crucial to create compelling content that engages the public and communicates conservation initiatives effectively. WWF MCO seeks a highly motivated and creative intern to support its visual communications efforts and help bring conservation stories to life. Therefore, WWF MCO seeks a young, talented, and highly motivated intern for the Communications Department
  • This internship offers an exciting opportunity for a young professional to gain hands-on experience in visual content creation within the nonprofit sector. The intern will work closely with the Communications Department to develop visual assets for digital platforms, print materials, and advocacy campaigns that align with WWF’s conservation goals
  • The visual communications intern will be based in Maputo, and the internship will last for 6 months
Duties
  • Graphic Design Support: Assist in designing infographics, brochures, posters, social media graphics, and other visual content to support WWF’s conservation and advocacy initiatives
  • Digital Content Creation: Develop visual assets for WWF’s social media platforms, website, and email campaigns, ensuring that content is aligned with WWF’s branding and messaging
  • Multimedia Production: Support the production of multimedia content, including videos, animations, and photo-based content for internal and external communications
  • Photography and Videography: Assist in capturing and editing photos and videos from WWF events, field activities, and other conservation-related efforts
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure that all visual materials adhere to WWF’s brand guidelines, maintaining consistency across all channels
  • Event Support: Design and develop visual materials for public events, webinars, and presentations, including banners, presentations, and displays
  • Creative Collaboration: Work closely with the communications team to brainstorm and execute creative visual solutions that enhance WWF’s messaging
  • Content Management: Help organize and maintain a library of visual assets for use across various communication projects
  • Reporting and Analysis: Monitor the performance of visual content on digital platforms and prepare reports on audience engagement and reach
  • Participate in relevant meetings and workshops for learning purposes and develop reports and presentations if necessary
  • Maintain a good image of the organization to ensure that WWF remains among the most respected in the country and beyond
  • Contributes to unit goals by accomplishing related duties as required
Requisites
  • Degree or coursework in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Multimedia, or a related field
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) and experience with photography/videography is an advantage
  • Strong creative and visual thinking skills with attention to detail
  • Interest in conservation and a passion for using design to support environmental advocacy
  • Experience in managing social media content and familiarity with digital platforms is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a dynamic team environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese
  • Knowledge of English is an advantage
  • Availability for the full duration of the internship (6 months)

  • Build skills in multimedia production, including photography, videography, and video editing
  • Learn how to create engaging content for social media, websites, and print, aimed at diverse audiences
  • Enhance proficiency in design software and tools used in the production of digital content
  • Women application is highly encouraged, and the age range for interns is 18 to 35 years. However, exceptions could be considered for full Graduates
