FHI 360 serves more than 60 countries, all 50 U.S. states and all U.S. territories. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Technical Writer, in Maputo, Mozambique.
This position will support FHI 360’s Capable Partners (CAP) Mozambique program. CAP Mozambique strengthens the technical and institutional capacities of Mozambican NGOs, CBOs, FBOs, networks and associations providing HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment.
This is a temporary, part-time position.
Duties
- Working with CAP Mozambique technical staff and leadership to respond to USAID/PEPFAR reporting and other information requirements. This includes, but is not limited to: Semi-Annual and Annual Reports; Annual Work Plans; Public Affairs related requests including briefing papers for VIP visits, press releases, success stories and photography; Documentation of key meetings with USAID and/or partners
- Working with select number of CAP partners to expand their external relations capacity
- Writing powerful success stories
- Effective presentation of data
- Creation of marketing materials (fact sheets, brochures, presentations) to support resource mobilization and diversification
- Generation of earned media (crafting press releases, making contacts with local press and pitching stories)
- Tailored external relations TA as it relates to the activities outlined above
- Liaising between CAP partners, USAID and U.S. Embassy Public Affairs to promote partner activities within the PEPFAR/USAID brand
- Supporting Deputy Chief of Party-Programs to improve and streamline internal information collection and management for improved reporting purposes
- Support Chief of Party in creating documents and presentations to communicate lessons learned and key aspects of the model to others in the capacity building/ civil society support community in Mozambique and beyond. Also in communicating about and promoting CAP partners
Requirements
- Familiarity with PEPFAR and USAID reporting and branding requirements. Must have documented experience as the primary writer on long format (min 50 page) reporting documents in English for USAID. Writing samples required
- Familiarity with PEPFAR Mozambique program goals, basic concepts of organizational development and role of civil society in Mozambique’s HIV/AIDS response
- Knowledge of the local Mozambican context and experience working with local CSOs a plus
- Ability to travel to provincial and rural towns in Mozambique (up to 15% of time)
- Fluency in written and verbal English and proficiency in Portuguese
- BS/BA in English, Communications, Public Health or a related field and 10 years related work experience
