APOPO is a Belgian NGO that trains rats to save lives. Based at the Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania since 2000, APOPO trains:
- Landmine detection rats, a method that has already been accredited and implemented in Mozambique
- Tuberculosis detection rats, an application which already identified thousands of TB patients in a collaborative setup with the DOTS centers in Tanzania
Apopo is currently recruiting a Location Manager, to be based in Tete.
Duties
- Manage support component of mine action activities for the location
- Prepare and deliver location financial and administrative reports to country HQ
- Implement and administer an efficient logistics and procurement system for the location
- Serve as location liaison for partners and stakeholders associated with the site
- Implement APOPO’s guidelines, policies and best practices
Requisites
- University degree (minimum four year degree or equivalent) in relevant field
- 5 or more years experience in project management, accounting, finance and administration and/or other relevant areas
- Fluent in English; Portuguese language skills are an asset
- Excellent organization, negotiation, and administrative skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
