Description
  • CNFA is currently seeking an Access to Finance Lead candidates for the upcoming USAID-funded Feed the Future Mozambique Market Systems Activity. This Activity will facilitate the development of a competitive agricultural market system that is inclusive, resilient, and sustainable in the provision of goods and services demanded by actors. The approach for this Activity will help identify and minimize the root causes of market failure that disadvantage and exclude the vulnerable, women and. This Activity will also create incentives for market actors to invest in developing and sustaining productive relationships for the efficient delivery of goods and services and an improved enabling and regulatory environment for agricultural sector growth. This Activity provides USAID the opportunity to target solutions such as: build an inclusive and responsive financial system for rural individuals and SMEs; address the inefficiencies in the inputs distribution system; establish strong and transparent relationships between actors; among others
Requisites
  • At least seven (7) years of experience leading and implementing initiatives to strengthen agricultural lending and investment, including with the formal, nonformal, and microfinance sectors in Mozambique, with experience in Zambezia, Nampula, and Sofala strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in access to finance, investment, economics, banking, or related field required, Master’s degree is preferred
  • Demonstrated network of business relations in the agriculture, financial, and business development services sectors is required
  • Experience promoting agriculture lending with lenders
  • Successful experience strengthening financial institutions, including banks, digital finance and insurance providers, and microfinance institutions to design inclusive products suited to the agriculture sector, with experience with loan guarantee programs preferred
  • Experience building the capacity of agribusinesses to improve creditworthiness and investment readiness strongly preferred, including experience strengthening business advisory services sector
  • Knowledge of debt and equity financing of agricultural SMEs, the equity investment fund community, and value chain financing
  • Experience working with government agencies regarding agricultural finance and credit
  • Understanding of the needs of women, youth, and other traditionally marginalized groups
  • Strong English written and oral skills required; knowledge of Portuguese preferred
