CICV is recruiting an Accountant, to be based in Pemba, Mozambique.
Description
  • Purpose: Accountant 2 is in charge of preparing, reconciling and analysing the accounting records and financial reports of the delegation/other structure under his/her responsibility
Duties
  • Records accounting entries in the accounting software (IRIS) on a regular basis
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of accounting transactions in accordance with financial procedures
  • Helps ensure that operations run smoothly through efficient cash-flow management, covering the fund needs of the delegation/structure
  • Guarantees proper filing of relevant supporting documents for future reference, including audits
  • Performs regular integrity checks of accounting entries and account balances
  • Participates in monthly closing activities and is responsible in the main process
  • Always keeps files up to date and participates in filing relevant supporting documents
  • Provides support to other departments and responds to semi-routine and non-standard inquiries when necessary
  • Gives guidance to Accountant 1
  • Identifies anomalies or other issues and proposes solutions to his/her supervisor
  • Prepares account reconciliation for various balance sheet accounts
  • Replace Cashier whenever needed
  • Ensure accounting documents are complete in compliance with financial rules in force
  • Proposes/develops Internal Control measures and other improvements to the business processes, including control tools/procedures to better monitor expenses
  • Ensures on daily basis that no book has any pending balance
  • Processes monthly closing in the accounting software and prepares documents related to that operation
  • Gathers and prepares accounting documents for shipment to Manila upon monthly closing
  • Processes in timely manner correction of accounting records requested by RES CTM and collects any supporting documents pertaining to those corrections
  • Produces accounting statistics on regular basis
  • Participates and prepares in the monthly cash forecast
  • In charge of the quarterly balance sheet accounts confirmation. Reconciles accounts and performs correction according to instructions
  • Follows-up with the bank for payments, transfers and any other transaction
  • Ensures payment of PAYEE in a timely manner
  • Performs other Finance task as may be assigned by his manager
  • Keeps in contact with the finance team in Pemba SD to manage/reconcile bank transfers, payments and other financial transactions
  • Performs a daily cash count in absence of the FAD Manager
  • Advises colleagues on finance related matters and follow up of their respective budget and expenses
Requisites
  • University degree in accounting or any relevant field
  • 3 years’ work experience in a similar field
  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • Very good computer literacy, especially Excel
  • Very good knowledge in double-accounting
