For our work in the Idai/Kenneth Humanitarian response we are looking for an Accountant
- Contract Duration: Until 31/03/2020
Duties
- To process transactions ensuring that invoices are thoroughly checked and supporting documents attached and cheques together with payment vouchers are raised and appropriately approved by Finance and Budget holder(s)
- Maintain contact with the bank, partners and suppliers, regarding financial transactions, records cash movements and prepares bank reconciliations
- Manage petty cash, recording all transactions, filing and reconciliations. Ensure that a complete and accurate record of all petty cash transactions is maintained at all times; that expenditure of petty cash is accurate; and that requests for replenishment are made in a timely manner, when required
- To ensure proper paperwork and filing is done at all times
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports
- Inform the Senior Accountant/Finance Manager of any major discrepancies or problems and assisting in resolving relevant issues/problems
Requisites
- We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant academic qualifications in Accounting, Financial Management, Commerce, Economics, or related field
- One to two years’ experience in Accounting or Finance Management
- Good knowledge and experience of core financial management activities, including accounts payable, cash management, according to Mozambique standards
- Proficiency in numeracy skills and experience using a computerized financial management system and good computer skills (Excel especially and Word)
- Pays attention to details
- Ability to prioritise work issues to meet deadlines with minimal supervision, work under stress and adjust to constantly changing situations while maintaining focus on delivery and follow-through
- Good analytical and conceptual thinking skills with a proven proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems and suggesting improvements that continuously seek to provide a better service to Oxfam
- Excellent personal communication skills, in written and verbal in Portuguese and English
- Ability to demonstrate an openness and willingness to learn about the application of gender/gender mainstreaming, women’s rights, and diversity for all aspects of development work
