  • Mozambique Expansion of Rural Cattle and Dairy Opportunities (MERCADO) is a five-year $20.8 million dairy development project that will substantially increase the agricultural productivity and expand the potential for trade among 32,900 direct beneficiaries, including smallholder farmers, mini-agribusinesses, processors, feed manufacturers, cooperatives and commercial breeders
  • MERCADO will build on the successful work and infrastructure developed through past USDA investments in both Manica and Sofala provinces to further catalyze private sector investments across the dairy value chain
  • The program will employ a co-financing approach with private sector partners to leverage USDA grant funding and private sector investments across the dairy value chain
  • Land O´Lakes is also implementing the Mozambique Feed the Future Resilient Agricultural Markets Activity – Beira Corridor (RAMA-BC) whose overarching goal is to equitably increase agricultural productivity and climate resilience by increasing adoption of resilient agricultural technologies and practices; RAMA is funded by USAID
  • Reporting & Supervision: This position reports to the National Finance & Admin Manager
Duties
  • The Assistant Finance Officer will provide accounting support to the National Finance & Admin Manager ensuring accurate and timely execution of accounting and administrative functions within the projects; This support will be conducted in accordance with Land O'Lakes and donors´ regulations
  • Assist the National Finance & Admin Manager in maintaining and updating the files and financial records
  • Utilize established Sharepoint system (DevLink) to store key documents and share key project and country related information with other staff
  • Other financial and administrative duties assigned by the National Finance & Admin Manager
  • Make INSS & IRPS payments
  • Coordinate with other offices the send/receive of correspondence and documentation
  • Support in making bookings including travel, lodging etc.
  • Maintain office equipment, ensure timely maintenance and repairs
  • Ensure appropriate use of office consumables and monitor stock
  • Ensure that supporting documentation is adequate, accurate and compliant before filed and follow up with appropriate offices to ensure they are complete
  • Ensure that all copies of payment processes are properly made and in full conformity with the originals
  • Support in the procurement process
  • Ensure accurate and up to date Maputo inventory
  • Daily updating of banks' journals in excel format
  • Maintain the fuel control for Maputo vehicle
  • Follow all pending documents to complete the expense justifications process
Requisites
  • A 3 year plus qualification in Accounting or Business Administration, appropriate and relevant experience will be considered
  • 2 plus years relevant in depth professional experience
  • Fluency in Portuguese, good English language skills an advantage
  • Knowledge of Mozambique labor and tax reporting requirements
  • Previous experience in a similar post is desirable
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel, proficiency in web based finance/accounting software
  • Must be a Mozambique citizen
  • Prior working experience with Cost Point Accounting system or other major accounting system will be an added advantage
  • Honors degree or equivalent 4+ year qualification in Accounting or Business Administration an advantage
  • Prior experience on a USDA/USAID or internationally funded project an advantage
