High Commission of Canada in Mozambique is recruiting an Assistant to the Head of Mission (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- Under the general supervision of the Head of Mission (HOM), provides secretarial office services; performs a variety of other administrative support functions; and other duties as required
- Candidates will initially be screened against the essential qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications
Requisites
- University degree from a recognized university or a college diploma in business administration
- Fluent English (spoken, written, comprehension)
- Fluent Portuguese (spoken, written, comprehension)
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience (within the past seven (7) years) of complex and direct administrative support (Complex is defined as a strong capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, on multiple administrative files comprised of various elements, and with a variety of internal and external stakeholders)
- Candidates will initially be screened against the essential qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications
- Knowledge of standard office suite software applications (Microsoft applications, Excel, Word, Outlook) and internet research strategies
- Knowledge of executive office support practices, and standard office procedures and practices
- Knowledge of how to track and report on budgets, expenditures and variances using an accounting system
- Excellent communication in English and Portuguese (oral, comprehension and written)
- Ability to manage own time, balance multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional interpersonal relationships with colleagues, managers; high level officials and other relevant contacts
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability
- Strong and consistent attention to detail
- Sound judgement and professional integrity
- Ability to work under pressure
- Track record of maintaining and leveraging an effective network of contacts
- Recent (within the past 3 years) experience of direct administrative support to an executive (e.g. Ambassador, CEO or Minister’s office)
- Minimum of 3 years experience working for an international or diplomatic organization
- Working knowledge of French (spoken, written, comprehension)
