Oxfam is recruiting a Behavior Change Communication/Media Coordinator, to be based in Cuamba, Mozambique.
Description
  • Job Purpose: The Behavior Change Communication will work with business development in support of the projects in Country; creating, identifying and accessing new funding opportunities; maintaining a consistent standard of donor relationship and high-quality proposal development across variable country contexts; and will actively seek to grow income for the confederation through multi-country funding opportunities and consortium partnerships
Duties
Technical, Leadership, People and Resource management - 60%
  • To contribute to the responsible completion of all projects, under the direction and discretion of the Regional Representative
  • Work with country’s teams to deliver high impact stories for use in national, regional and global markets for traditional and social media. This would be in support of fundraising and influencing objectives
  • Work with the countrys teams to develop and implement a high-quality story-gathering strategy to showcase Oxfam’s work by generating compelling stories for use in media, social media, and wider communications in support of fundraising and influencing objectives
  • Design and implement a regional media strategy that secures high-impact media to help raise Oxfam’s profile, bring change on core Oxfam issues and raise funds , Develop and drive Oxfam’s digital communications strategy in the region, supporting country teams and partners to develop and maximize their use of digital and multimedia technology and sharing with global platforms
  • Act as a conduit between global and national press officers to support the sharing of high-quality material and to amplify national stories in the global media, Support the development and delivery of a regional media strategy in support of regional campaigns, mobilizing and managing the engagement of the media in the delivery of campaign activities, Liaise with the global Content Group to align content gathering strategies
  • Respond to the news agenda in the region to identify opportunities to profile Oxfam objectives and identify risk, Provide strategic media, social media and communications advice at the senior level in the region and nationally
  • This would include in the development of team plans, appropriate responses in the media and social media, brand risk and maximizing impact of communications, Provide expertise to mitigate national and regional risk
  • Lead the media response on humanitarian emergencies (up to Category 2) and be the first media responder to a quick onset Category 1 emergency in the region, Host international media and celebrity trips
  • Provide strategic advice to regional and global campaign and fundraising teams to ensure projects are media-friendly and have the communications products needed to amplify messages
  • Provide or support media training of national and regional teams and develop spokespeople to speak on humanitarian, development and campaigning issues, Act as a spokesperson for the organisation, Monitor and evaluate the impact of media projects, and provide regular reporting, Manage Oxfam in SAF internal and external social media pages and Identify media and communications opportunities and lead the development of products to raise the visibility of Oxfam in SAF internally and externally
  • With the ability to translate documents and perform simultaneous interpretation

  • Significant responsibilities for external stakeholder engagement and relationship management with institutional donors and Oxfam at regional level
  • Engagement both internally and externally on proposal development, funding opportunities, and donor strategies
  • Provide specialist advice, knowledge and skills related to partnership-building with institutional donors and Oxfam’s program in region to a range of Oxfam senior managers and staff members
  • Management tasks are complex, not routine, and involve high degree of specialization
  • Responsible for growing income from donors working in region for the confederation
  • Decision-making requires significant levels of judgement based on technical knowledge, experience, and consultation
  • Collaborates with colleagues in different parts of organization including programs, finance, human resources, logistics, and funding
Requisites
  • Degree in Communication and Midea, Public relations and Marketing, Journalism
  • Experience in similar position
