DAI SPEED is recruiting a Biodiversity Intern, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
  • The Supporting the Policy Enabling Environment for Development (SPEED) activity is a 4.5-year (March 22, 2021 to August 7, 2025) project designed to improve Mozambique’s business enabling environment and enhance the role of the private sector in agriculture, trade facilitation, energy, biodiversity conservation, and health; it will also strengthen economic governance and public financial management, while enhancing the role of civil society, thereby improving the country’s ability to plan, manage, and finance its own development
  • The impact of SPEED interventions is supposed to be monitored based in a pragmatic and systematic framework. It is basically for estimating the monetary benefits for Mozambique from policy changes supported by SPEED
  • Thus, the purpose of this position is, essentially, to ensure an accurate estimation of the impact of SPEED interventions
Duties
  • The specific duties include, but not limited to:
  • Support the Portfolio Manager in administering and following- up on different assignments:
  • Set up and attend meetings, take notes, translate short documents, draft reports
  • Assist short- term consultants on organizing/providing information, support on data collection, developing briefing notes, and supporting with the needed logistics
  • Assist with the drafting of the weekly and quarterly reports
  • Assist in events (workshops/seminars) planning and implementation: draft and send invites, aid participants, take notes and draft event reports
  • Support the Monitoring and evaluation:
  • Participate in field work for selected activities, interview, gather information and data, process and produce reports
  • Collect and organize all the relevant information/data and reports of the Portfolio to facilitate monitoring and evaluation. Other tasks
Requisites
  • Early graduate/Student currently enrolled in a degree in Ecology, Biodiversity Conservation, Terrestrial, Coastal and or Marine Biology, Natural Resources Management or equivalent (university degree or diploma completed preferred)
  • Research and analytical skills
  • Good understanding of biodiversity conservation challenges and issues
  • Good organizational skills with a willingness to take initiative
  • Good communication skills
  • English (reading and writing) is required
  • Willingness to improve experience in the field of policy analytical work and M&E
