Grindrod is recruiting a Branch Manager, to be based in Maputo.
Duties
- Oversee the day to day activities of both Ships Agency and Clearing & Forwarding divisions
- Control of the branch budget whilst maximising revenues and achieving optimum profitability
- Developing and growing new revenue streams
- Managing the scope and budgets of the branch activities
- Developing and implementing strategies to acquire new business and maintain existing business
- Reviewing of operational processes, procedures and standards and introducing efficiencies
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction that always meets, if not exceeds, expectation
- Closely managing and controlling debtors
- Reporting on branch deliverables to Director level
- Providing back up to the Country Manager
- Building and maintaining strong and sustainable customer relationships to ensure exposure and increased sales
- Overseeing, maintaining and improving processing systems and ensuring quality compliance in ISO 9001
- Identify staff, system and procedure requirements and implement. Emphasis on staff competencies and development so as to improve standards of efficiency and service
- Motivating and coaching staff, encouraging team building and increasing staff morale
Requisites
Qualification
- Related tertiary qualification preferred (Alternatively, relevant industry-related training
Experience
- Minimum of 8 years practical experience in the Freight Forwarding / ships agency industry
- 5 years managerial experience at a senior level including personnel and business management, planning and financial oversight
- Ideally have a background and experience in quality management processes

- Good understanding of accounts in order to manage debtors / creditors
- Computer literacy – MS Word, advanced MS Excel
- Able to travel as and when required
- Valid driver’s licence essential
- Ability to read / speak Portuguese will be an advantage
