Capacity Building Consultant

Counterpart International

Counterpart International is recruiting a Capacity Building Consultant, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

Duties
  • Provision and oversight of organizational capacity development and technical assistance to CSO partners and grantees in the areas of leadership and strategic management, project management and quality control, financial management and accounting, human and material resources, financial sustainability, and external relationships and partnerships
  • Work with program staff, consultants and trainers to deliver high quality training, technical assistance and mentoring to local CSOs
  • Ensure Counterpart’s organizational capacity development best practices are institutionalized within the program and adapted to the Mozambican context
  • Provide technical knowledge about capacity building to program staff and relevant CSOs
  • Leverage and enhance existing strengths within CSOs, facilitating opportunities to learn from each other’s effective strategies
  • Document implementation successes, challenges, and lessons learned and share them with Counterpart and USAID through regular program reports and online Knowledge Management portal
  • Deliver technical presentations on program achievements to audiences, including implementing partner(s), civil society, government officials, USAID, and other relevant organizations
  • Guide and ensure the highest quality of project monitoring, evaluation, reporting and communications
  • Develop strong organizational relationships and partnerships with local and national government authorities
  • Propose and oversee administrative and logistical aspects related to capacity building activities
  • Other duties as assigned
Requisites
  • A university degree in Social Sciences, international development, political science, public policy or related field
  • A minimum of four years of relevant working experience in civil society and citizen engagement, advocacy, civic education, participatory government, social partnership, capacity building or organizational development with an international NGO
  • Experience in working with Mozambique government representatives and media
  • Demonstrating organizational skills
  • A high level of interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, able to work effectively with civil society organizations, cooperation agencies, project staff, and other beneficiaries
  • Ability and willingness to travel to field offices as needed and in accordance with annual work plan
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines, with minimum supervision
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Application of information and communication technologies in development field and/or experience in Gender Integration and Social Inclusion preferred
  • English fluency is required
