  • The Capacity Building Officer reports to the Program Manager and is responsible for ensuring the quality implementation of the My Decision, My Future (MDMF) Project, including budget planning, training, and capacity-building activities. With technical support and assistance from the Education Specialist, (and the health and gender Specialists), the incumbent supports the development and implementation of the organization’s capacity-building resources, frameworks and training program for the MDMF Project. The My Decision My Future project focuses on driving access to essential Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Services, Comprehensive Sexuality Education, and resilience-building activities, with an emphasis on the most vulnerable adolescents and youth, including those with disabilities, in Northern Mozambique. The Capacity Building Officer supports project implementation in areas such as Comprehensive Sexuality Education, Gender-Based Violence prevention, (Violence Against Children-VAC) and community engagement for fostering a peaceful mindset. The incumbent provides technical support, coaching, and guidance to District Education, Health, and Gender Officers, as well as to teachers in schools, and coordinates with all partners, including the government

Duties
Lead on quality project implementation on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) and, Gender Based Violence (GBV) interventions for adolescents and youth, covering Niassa, Cabo Delgado and Nampula provinces. (50% of Time)
  • Supporting the development of training frameworks for increased capacity of teachers and other providers to deliver CSE in the school environment
  • Coordinate with district government sectors and schools for training of teachers/educators/facilitators to deliver CSE including through school councils, clubs, and extra-curricular activities
  • Support implementation of innovative approaches to deliver CSE in schools through teaching scripts developed by UNESCO to support teachers in the implementation of CSE (pilot in selected districts in Nampula province)
  • Engage and support CSE focal points in schools (teachers, health providers) in the provision of CSE extra-curricular activities (school clubs) for adolescents and young people by age specific groups (15 to 18 and 19 to 24 years) who are in school
  • Support the operationalization of the VAC (GBV in adolescents) protocols in schools
  • Promote participatory and inclusive community dialogues with women, adolescents, youth, and local government facilitating advocacy efforts on conflict prevention and durable solutions for peace.
  • Ensures modules, training manuals and other resources are culturally appropriate for audiences in the project location
  • Contributes to the design, development, supervision, evaluation, and assessment of training workshops
  • Support in monitoring security situation in project location, by participating in security clusters and reports to the Program Manager
  • Develop plans and budget activities, supported by the Finance Manager and Finance assistant including managing the logistical arrangements for training workshops and events in coordination with the Logistics Personnel
Coordination with government sectors in Niassa, Cabo Delgado and Nampula (20% of Time)
  • Represents RTP Provincial and at District level Forums, conferences, and meetings to advocate for the use of Play Based Learning approaches for promotion of SRHR for youth
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to key partners during school and community level activities implementation
  • Represent Right To Play, acting as the official representative of Right To Play in all events and situations, ensuring the organization's mission and objectives are effectively communicated and promoted
  • Facilitating seamless coordination of all activities with government partners, ensuring that all toolkits and resources are fully aligned with national guidelines and regulations
Monitoring, Compliance, and reporting (25% of Time)
  • Ensure up-to-dated project reports to the Program Manager and sharing with partners and relevant stakeholders
  • Support data collection and document essential information and support the compilation and generation of quality data reports on a regular and timely manner
  • Ensure visibility of the program at field level, in line with the communication strategies of the partnership with UNFPA and MDMF donors
  • Support the RTP Program Manager to conduct periodic analysis of progress of the project, and document best practices, success stories and lessons learnt
  • Support partners and relevant stakeholders at district level to establish networks to share learning and experiences of project
  • Coordinate the district monitoring and reflection meetings/events to assess the quality delivery of the expected results
  • Performs other duties as assigned (5% of Time)
Requisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in areas related to social studies, Public Health, Health promotion, Food and Nutrition Sciences, or other related areas
  • Minimum of three (3) years of working experience in areas related to SRHR and
  • Comprehensive Sexuality Education, in low-income communities including those affected by conflict
  • Previous experience in working in the project locations affected by conflict in Nampula, Niassa and Cabo Delgado Provinces
  • Proven experience as trainer and leading on capacity building activities
  • Experience in working with adolescent youth and women is crucial
  • Experience in coaching and managing partnerships
  • Attention to detail and ability to plan and implement work plan with minimum supervision
  • Good networking and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to comply efficiently with tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Good presentation skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team in culturally diverse professional staff

  • Computer literacy in MS Word, Power Point, Excel, and Internet
  • Understanding of different training techniques, including the use of participatory methodologies
  • Languages:
  • Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese and English
  • Speaking local languages from Northern region (local languages from Niassa, Cabo Delgado, Nampula and Pemba Provinces) is an advantage for optimized engagement with the community

  • Previous experience working in International NGOs and coordinating with the government at provincial and district levels
  • Understanding the concept of Sport for Development/Play Based Learning is an advantage
