Adra Mozambique is recruiting a Chief of Party - COP (m/f), to be based in Nampula, Mozambique.
Duties
- The COP will provide overall strategic leadership and oversight to the project
- S/he shall have overall responsibility for managing and reporting on project activities; making key decisions and solving problems in short time frames, while maintaining operational and program quality and integrity
- S/he will serve as the Recipient’s first point of interface with USAID on routine and strategic matters. The COP will also be Transform Nutrition’s main interface with the host government at central and provincial levels
- The position requires demonstrated experience interacting with other projects, host country governments at all levels, and international agencies
- Requisite qualifications include an appropriate balance of technical, managerial, and interpersonal skills and experience
- The nature of the Transform Nutrition Activity demands exceptional leadership; programmatic, organizational management, and communication skills; and a comprehensive understanding of the Mozambican social and political context
- The COP position requires strategic vision, strong technical skills in nutrition, multi-sectoral development experience, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent written and oral presentation skills, to fulfil the diverse technical and managerial requirements of this Activity
Requisites
- Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field including Nutrition, Public Health, International Development, Public Administration, or related area
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relations with senior host country government personnel, U.S. Government agencies, international donors and agencies, and NGO partners
- At least 10 years of experience managing integrated health and nutrition projects in developing countries
- Strong oral and written communication skills in Portuguese and English
- In-depth technical expertise in nutrition and one or more of the following areas: public health, SBC, WASH, and/or community development
- Demonstrated experience in building country capacity and systems at national and sub-national levels
- Practical experience in project start-up and hiring and supervising staff to meet programmatic needs
- Experience in mentoring, coaching, and skills transfer
- Experience working with USG-supported projects and knowledge of financial rules and regulations at a senior level
- At least five years of professional experience working in Mozambique
- Strong English-language and Portuguese communication skills, both interpersonal and written (prefer English and Portuguese FSI 4/4)
