- Land O'Lakes International Development is seeking candidates for a Chief of Party (COP) position for an anticipated USAID-funded Feed the Future Mozambique Climate Smart Agriculture activity
- The five-year project will focus on promoting improved agricultural practices among smallholders to increase their productivity, profitability and resilience to climate change
- The targeted value chains will include cowpea, pigeon pea, sesame, soy, groundnut, common bean, and banana
- Activity interventions will promote climate smart agricultural techniques and technologies to farmers and farmer groups in the Beira Corridor region, and work closely with key agricultural value chain stakeholders to improve productivity, strengthen resiliency and reduce the negative greenhouse effects of farming
Summary
- Based in the Beira corridor, the COP will provide overall strategic vision, management and direction for the project, including: 1) successful implementation of the project and achievement of results, on time and within budget; 2) supervision, mentoring and development of local and expatriate staff and volunteers; 3) management of project workload including all financials, planning, administrative compliance and reporting, and monitoring, evaluation and learning; and 4) representation of the project to the donor, relevant Government institutions, community groups, NGOs, and potential private-sector partners
- The COP will manage a large team of host country employees and a Farmer to Farmer volunteer program made up of expatriate, regional and Mozambican volunteers
- S/he will report to Land O’Lakes’ Regional Program Director
Requisites
- Master's degree in Agriculture Economics, Agribusiness, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing complex donor-funded projects with budgets of $10 million or greater
- Previous experience managing private sector development, value chain, climate change adaptation projects, and/or natural resource management projects
- Proven ability to manage a large-scale agriculture development projects particularly USAID awards, involving multiple value chains across diverse geographic areas
- Ability to develop budgets, recruit short- and long-term staff, manage a large, diverse team in multiple field offices, and build the capacity of staff to become leaders;
- English written and spoken fluency
- Proven ability to manage agricultural value-chain development activities with an engendered approach
- Minimum 5 years' regional experience, and minimum of 3 years’ experience in Mozambique
- Fluency in Portuguese
