Chemonics is recruiting a Chief of Party (m/f), to be based in Nampula, Mozambique.
Description
- Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated USAID Local Governance Strengthening (LOGOS) activity in Mozambique. The activity’s overall objective is to support the Government of the Republic of Mozambique in efforts to decentralize governance to improve delivery of public services at central, provincial, district and/or municipal levels. The chief of party, based in Nampula, will be responsible for overall strategic leadership and program implementation. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world
Duties
- Lead overall planning, implementation, monitoring, and management of LOGOS, ensuring that the activity achieves expected results
- Serve as the project’s representative with USAID, host government institutions, local partners, civil society, and other local stakeholders
- Provide technical guidance in local governance capacity building
- Advise relevant stakeholders, including government officials, in local governance sector reform initiatives
- Foster, maintain, and grow collaborative, productive, and effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and implementing partners
Requisites
- Advanced degree in a relevant discipline preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience leading and managing complex development programs and multidisciplinary teams, preferably for USAID- or other donor-funded projects
- Strong understanding of governance, public sector service delivery, public financial management, decentralization, public sector reform, economic development, or other relevant technical sectors
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative, productive working relationships with local government counterparts, private sector associations, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders
- Experience working in Mozambique highly desired
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Portuguese
