An anonymous company works for community development is recruiting a Chief of Party – USAID FORTE Project, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- The COP is responsible and has authority and oversight for the entire program. The COP provides managerial and technical support throughout the implementation of the project, including management support and capacity building of sub-partners. The COP is responsible for providing input to USAID Mozambique for the development and submission of technical and budget documents, such as the Health Operational Plan and PEPFAR Country Operational Plan (COP); Annual Program Reports (APR) and Semi-Annual Program Reports (S/APR), in collaboration with the M&E Specialist, and development of requests for supplemental funding. S/he will have main responsibility for representation of the project to the United States Government (USG). The COP bears ultimate responsibility for ensuring that grantees and subgrantees meet USAID, Health, PEPFAR and program requirements
- A mozambican NGO, founded in 2004, is aimed at the promotion of local communities social and economic progress, through the implementation of initiatives in the areas of health, education, gender, agriculture & food security and water & sanitation. With a natiowide range action, the organization has built a large experience strengthening communities in: combating HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, gender-based violenc, girl abuse and early marriages etc; improving quality of basic health, education, water and sanitation services; promotion of socio-economic empowerment of women and girls, gender equality, etc.
- In partnership with an USA-based CSO, this NGO is applying for the implementation of the project “USAID Fostering Opportunities to Respond to the TB Epidemic (FORTE)” – NOFO #72065623RFA00004. Through FORTE project, USAID/Mozambique intends to award a $30 million, five-year Cooperative Agreement (CA) to support the Government of the Republic of Mozambique (GRM) to improve Tuberculosis (TB) Epidemic response in Mozambique’s high burden provinces of northern and central Mozambique, being two provinces for each region
- The overall goal of FORTE is to support Mozambican Government´s efforts to reduce the burden of TB and DR-TB in the selected provinces of Mozambique. This goal will be accomplished through the following main objective: Improve access to quality TB prevention, diagnosis, and treatment services in Mozambique
Duties
- The activity will aim to meet the following strategic objectives:
- REACH: Maximize the detection of all forms of TB in all individuals of all ages
- CURE: Empower all individuals diagnosed with TB to complete treatment and be cured
- PREVENT: Stop the spread of new infections and the progression from infection to active TB disease
- INNOVATE: Research, develop, introduce, and scale-up new tools and approaches to combat TB
- USTAIN: Build country-owned TB systems, led by local partners, that accelerates progress and support pandemic preparedness
- As part of this application, the organization is seeking for a Chief of Party (COP), for the implementation of the project
Requisites
- A Master’s degree in public health, social sciences, or related degree, and at least 7 - 10 years of senior-level management experience in managing large and complex projects; or a Bachelor’s degree in public health, social sciences, or related degree, and at least 10 -15 years of senior-level management experience in managing large, complex Community-based TB care and support projects
- Experience in implementing Development, Health, TB-related programs, including at least 3 -5 years of experience working with HIV programs
- Excellent communication skills, demonstrated leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively across technical disciplines
- Excellent representational and communication skills, written and oral proficiency in Portuguese and English language
- Excellent past performance references; and
- Demonstrated experience in gender and/or integrating and mainstreaming gender issues into interventions for optimal results
- Knowledge of Public Health Programing and Management in Mozambique
