PSI is recruiting a Communication Officer (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
  • The Communication Officer will join the Small Towns Sanitation project (a 4-year WASH Program, funded by USAID) and will be responsible for all communication activities (development of communication pieces, of IEC material and other SBC material) within the project. He/she will be responsible for the management and development of all communication materials, management of external agencies, advertisement agencies, media outlets, etc. The Communication Officer will be based in Maputo and will work under the technical guidance of the SBC Specialist. The candidate should have strong excellent communication and interpersonal skills, should be able to think creatively, and have outstanding writing and editing skills
Duties
  • Develop and support the project communications strategy and plan, which should be developed with the collaboration of the project team
  • Coordinate and implement the communication activities according to the developed plan and based on our target audience
  • Create creative content, write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, success stories, press releases, website content, power point presentations and other marketing material that communicates the project’s activities
  • Organize and conduct field visits to gather strong and relevant content from the project activities, in collaboration with the team
  • Work and manage creative agencies to develop high quality media and multimedia content for the project SBC activities (IEC material, Digital content, etc.)
  • Develop media plans in coordination with the project team, and manage the media outlets to ensure execution of the media plan
  • Create and maintain a contacts database of key stakeholders
  • Prepare and manage the communication budget
  • Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the project, and coordinate events as required
  • Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics
Requisites
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in a communications role
  • Knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English and Portuguese that are adaptable to the different audiences
  • Extensive computer skills, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills, and be highly motivated and organized
  • A strategic and creative thinker, creative eye for a story and understanding of the audience
  • Strong presentation development skills
  • Mozambican nationality
