DAI Feed the Future Mozambique Value Chain Activity is recruiting a Communications Specialist, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

Description
  • The Feed the Future Mozambique Value Chain Activity is a USAID-funded program implemented by DAI
  • The Communications Specialist will be responsible for leading all formal publications that target outside audiences; He/She will develop annual communications plans that include communication tools and distribution strategies for each type of output based on the audience
  • The Communications Specialist will lead formal communication with the client, public outreach, and communication distribution strategy, and knowledge capture through cases and analyses of the Feed the Future Mozambique Value Chain Activity strategies and interventions
  • He/She will work with the technical team to identify interventions and lessons learned as part of the FTF VC learning culture and will support the team in incorporating communications concepts including information flows, feedback loops, and knowledge sharing
Duties
  • Client Communication: Work with the Technical and M&E Teams to develop the Activity’s Annual Communication Plan
  • Consistent supply (at least one per month) of short, USAID-formatted success stories highlighting a partner intervention or market systems implementation tool
  • Develop a set of strategic USAID communication tools that could include a monthly events calendar, quarterly newsletter, etc
  • Document the Feed the Future Mozambique Value Chain Activity’s Collaboration Learning, and Adapting (CLA) through periodic updates, newsletters, or reports on the project’s approach to learning and adaptation
  • Prepare Quarterly and Annual Reports and other client requirements as needed
  • Public Outreach and Communication Distribution: Contract and provide technical assistance to outside communications, media, and public relations firms as needed
  • Work with the Visual Media Specialist to develop media and communications tools to document beneficiary progress and change
  • Manage the Activity’s social media platform
  • Develop creative communication tools including blogs, photo essays, infographics, etc. for posting on the project website and other online development or market system platforms
  • Ensure compliance with the Feed the Future Branding and Marking Plan
  • Knowledge Capture and Teamwork: Research and write analytical case studies that are evidence driven and draw lessons from the Feed the Future Mozambique Value Chain Activity work and the challenges and lesson of applying a systemic approach
  • Apply communications tools and concepts to help technical teams understand and incorporate information flow and feedback loop tools
  • Support the technical teams in reviewing and adapting based on lessons learned/captured in case studies
Requisites
  • Master degree in Communications or other Social Sciences
  • At least 5 years of experience in International Organizations/NGOs in communications
  • Superior communications skills, strong ability to write and edit a wide range of communications materials
  • Creative thinker with the ability to work independently and prioritize with particular attention to details
  • Good interpersonal skills, high energy, self-starter with strong team-oriented spirit
  • Prior knowledge and exposure to a market systems approach, or value chain analysis is preferred
