Aldelia is recruiting a Construction Manager (m/f), to be based in Inhambane, Mozambique.
Description
  • The role of the Construction Manager is to be accountable for the planning and delivery of all the construction related deliverables of the PSA Project IBL scope, thus supporting the project manager and project team ensuring items such as constructability reviews and development of constructability RFQ requirements are properly addressed during FEL and execution. During the Construction period he/she evaluates the planning and execution of construction activities with the project and commissioning managers, proactively minimizing risk, driving safety performance, work quality and productivity
  • The construction manager may suggest alternative construction avenues that could lower the project cost and shorten the construction schedule, thus ensuring and driving the efficiency of constructability. These actions do not take over the role of the EPCm and/or Contractors’ construction managers
Duties
  • Single point accountable person to deliver on agreed upon construction milestones
  • Assist in development of the Project Construction Safety plan and ensure compliance
  • Provide key technical input during constructability reviews to optimize project capital costs, execution schedule and life cycle costs
  • Support and guide the IBL construction managers to meet their objectives
  • Develop and implement construction management progress tracking methodologies, systems, tools, and data to improve overall construction
  • Management efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Provide professional support that enables effective construction management techniques are adhered to in terms of the planning, design, and construction from inception to completion for managing time constraints and scope
  • Exercise governance on all aspects of construction management to deliver the agreed upon outcome/intent of the implementation phase of the project in the context of agreed-upon business partner expectations, commitments and constraints
  • Measures to evaluate construction performance and progress
  • Ensure systems handover as per the commissioning plan and in consultation
  • Implement with the project and commissioning managers
  • Ensure compliance to the construction schedule and procedures
  • Ensure overall compliance to SHE procedures applicable in a commissioning and construction operations environment during execution
  • Management of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure integrated risk management (construction specific) is effectively done
  • Ensure complete and up to date construction management administration with the support of the project delivery administrators and document controller
  • Implement a common platform for turnover execution across all construction areas, and contracts to ensure consistency across the project where multiple contracts are in effect
  • Provide high level construction progress summaries for each contract to the project manager
Requisites
  • B.Eng/Bsc/B-Tech or equivalent in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Construction Management)
  • A tertiary Construction/Project Management qualification will be an added advantage
  • 10-12 years working experience in the capital construction projects, with specific knowledge and experience in the petrochemical environment
  • Certification & Professional Membership with SACPCMP
  • The ability to communicate in the Portuguese and English languages
