CESVI is recruiting a Consultant, to be based in Maputo.
Background
Cesvi operates in the region in supporting the creation of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, which embraces the national parks of three countries: Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe, since 1998. Cesvi, with IUCN and the support of the Italian Cooperation, helps the development of a system of integrated management of the conservation areas and promotes activities to benefit the communities that live within its boundaries, which for Mozambique are located in the Gaza Province.
Along the years different interventions in the agricultural and health sectors were implemented in Sofala Province and since 2010 Cesvi has also been active in the Matutuine district, Maputo Province, helping local inhabitants properly manage the natural resources for a sustainable use by the communities.
In 2012, Cesvi obtained the first support from CEPF (Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund) for its programme in the Matutuine District. CEPF has recently approved a follow up intervention for the duration of 6 months: "Decreased Local Human Pressure in the Usuthu-Tembe-Futi and the Lubombo Conservancy Goba Transfrontier Conservation Areas of Mozambique and Swaziland".
Duties
The objectives of the consultancy are to manage the implementation of the project "Decreased Local Human Pressure in the Usuthu-Tembe-Futi and the Lubombo Conservancy Goba Transfrontier Conservation Areas of Mozambique and Swaziland" as well as create opportunities for the continuity of the programme and widening Cesvi intervention in Mozambique. The consultancy will include the following activities:
- Be responsible of the overall project management and implementation, in strict coordination with project partners and all concerned authorities
- Produce planning documents, including related financial provisions under the supervision of the Desk Officer for Mozambique, at Headquarters level
- Manage relationships with the local partners in the framework of the project plan of action and activities scheduling
- Guarantee clear documentation of all project activities, through reports and other visibility tools, as required
- Make sure project staff and partners are familiar with the donor and CESVI procedures and regulations
- All required MOUs and letters of agreement among project partners and stakeholders are in place
- Produce periodic official reports according to project deadlines and donor-related requests, to be submitted to the Desk Officer for Mozambique for editing and final approval
- Supervise the administration, accounting and procurement of the programme
- Liaise with major institutional donors and local authorities
- Represent Cesvi in networking events and initiatives (GONG, Alliance 2015, etc)
- Be involved in visibility actions taken by CESVI headquarters in order to promote in-country Fundraising
- Be involved in the development of new projects
- Ensure the elaboration of monthly internal report to be submitted to the Desk Officer on achievements, problems encountered, pertinent developments, and strategic needs
The consultant will liaise for the implementation of this consultancy with Cesvi Desk and in the execution of the consultancy will comply with CESVI administration and regulations.
Requisites
- Degree in Social Sciences or related subject
- Min. 5 years of experience in development Countries
- Previous experience in Africa
- Previous experience in management of development projects
- Demonstrated experience in project writing
- Knowledge of PCM and log frame based M&E systems
- Good communication and networking skills
- Strong leadership, supervisory and people skills as well as experience with NGO procedures, approaches, and operations
- Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese and English
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Postgraduate degree in above disciplines (desirable)
- Experience in Eco-tourism and environmental sectors (desirable)
- Previous experience in Mozambique (desirable)
