Global Edge is hiring a Deputy Operations Manager to be based in Pemba.
Duties
Reporting directly to Operation Manager, the responsibilities of the successful applicant will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Support the Pemba Operations manager who is responsible for and acts as Area Authority for the coordination
- Implementation, execution, control and completion of Pemba Area Operations ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals
- Ensure appropriate resources are sourced so that Project goals can be achieved in appropriate time frame
- Manage project staff and contractors as appropriate
- Manage Logistics Manager
- Ensure Journey Management is safe and efficient
- Manage EHS incident investigations, issue Remedial Work Plans and ensure follow up to closure
- Assist Human Resources in recruitment of staff, establishing training programs, and reviewing annual staff performance
- Ensure Permit and legal Compliance
- Ensure daily / weekly / monthly activity is reported
- Review and update CAPEX and OPEX budgets for Pemba activities
- Analyse operating costs and provide suggestions for improvement and costs savings
Requisites
- University Degree, preferably with an engineering or other technical Major
- Several years of Direct work experience in Civil Construction, Projects or Operations of which at least 1 must be in a practical hands on role
- Must be technically minded with understanding of basic technical principles
- Experience in People management
- Experience in Contractor Management
- Good to excellent skills in Basic Microsoft Office programs (Work, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
- The candidates must be fluent in English and Portuguese
