PSI is recruiting a Director of Social Behavior Change (SBC) (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- PSI seeks a Director of SBC to oversee the social behavior change activities under an anticipated 5-year USAID-funded project with PSI Mozambique. The project anticipates supporting the increase of sustainable access to sanitation services in Mozambique, focusing on small towns and peri-urban areas. The overall strategic goal is to improve communities' well-being, especially women and girls in Mozambique, by ensuring increased use and sustainable management of sanitation services via the two interrelated objectives: 1) Availability of water and sanitation services expanded; 2) Adoption of key WASH behaviors accelerated
Duties
- The Director of SBC should have significant experience with and knowledge of evidence-based SBC methods and strategies
- Current global best practices in SBC
- Use of rigorous monitoring and evaluation techniques to create real-time feedback loops
- Consistently looking for ways to innovate/test new approaches to change behavior
- Work under the oversight of the COP to design, implement, monitor, and coordinate SBC and demand generation interventions
- Our ideal candidate has deep experience with SBC projects in developing countries, a passion for knowledge sharing and capacity building, and a positive and action-oriented attitude
Requisites
- Master's Degree in Public Health, Communication, Behavioral/Social Sciences, Human Development, or related field
- At least 7 years' experience in the design, implementation, and/or assessment of SBC programs across health areas in a developing country, preferably with experience in Mozambique
- Experience in SBC specifically in terms of sanitation programming (mass campaigns, community-level health activities)
- Designed, implemented, and evaluated SBC programs with demonstrated health impact
- Experience providing SBC technical direction to projects, strategically designing programs, and determining effective ways to measure and evaluate implementation and impact
- Experience engaging beneficiaries in intervention design and development
- Knowledge and understanding of USAID relevant policies, goals, and strategies
- Excellent diplomatic, oral/written skills and presentation abilities
- Fluent in Portuguese and English (spoken and written)
- Strong preference for a citizen of Mozambique
