The U.S. Embassy Maputo is recruiting a DRG-Team Program Assistant Intern (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
  • The DRG Team Program Assistant intern will provide support to the DRG Team, including secretarial, logistical, research and project assistance for the DRG portfolio activities. The intern will support the scheduling, organization and attend internal and external meetings and have opportunities to participate in meaningful programmatic discussions with staff members. The intern may be asked to identify, gather, and provide basic analysis of significant events, processes and other issues concerning the democracy, human rights and governance field
  • Work hours: Part-time; 20 hours/week
  • Salary: Unpaid Internship
  • Length of hire: January 9, 2023 – July 7, 2023 (6 months)
Duties
  • Provide logistical support during meetings, including notetaking, drafting memoranda, and copyediting materials
  • Schedule meetings and events for DRG Team staff as needed
  • Support the DRG Team’s data collection and knowledge management and help foster a culture of learning and evaluation
  • Research issues in key policy areas relating to the DRG Team’s strategic objectives
  • Assist in the DRG Team’s ongoing strategic development process through research and analysis of organizations, trends, and needs in the democracy, human rights and governance field
Requisites
  • Language: Internship candidates should have strong oral and written communication skills in Portuguese; strong English speaking/writing skills highly desirable. English and Portuguese (Written, Spoken, Listening) Level 4. (This will be tested)
  • Computer: Candidates should have demonstrated Computer Skills, including especially MS Word, Excel and Power-point
  • Education: The DRG Team Program Assistant intern should be a recent Mozambican graduate of a university in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, preferably with a degree in political science, public policy, public management/administration, communications/media/journalism, or similar field; or a Mozambican student of an in-country university within one year of graduating, preferably with a degree in political science, public policy, public management/administration, or communications/media/journalism, or similar field
  • Experience: Desirable experience for the DG Team program Assistant intern would include and volunteer or other experience in public or non-profit administration
