Right to Play is recruiting a Education Program Officer, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

Duties
  • He Education Program Officer reports directly to the Programs Manager
  • The incumbent also receives technical guidance from Program team, Africa Office
  • Responsible for providing advice on the development of education material for Right To Play’s implementation program in various projects
  • Work to integrate Right To Play’s methodologies into the national education curriculum
  • The incumbent also provides solutions to promote activity-based learning and other effective tools to enhance knowledge and skills among children and youth in Right To Play’s project locations
  • The Education Program Officer is also responsible for analyzing education related results from Right To Play’s interventions and bringing innovative knowledge to organization’s approaches
  • Material and resource developments
  • Develops and promotes support-materials for incorporating activity based learning methods for teachers
  • Oversees the integration of RTP’s methodology in curricula of provincial and other government education and training agencies/departments
  • In collaboration with the Program Manager, Training Officer and Project Officers, develops tools for effective skills and knowledge delivery for partner schools
  • Assesses the needs of teachers and teaching methodologies to support the design of training for education departments, teachers and Education District Officers, where applicable
  • Works closely with teacher training and curriculum development institutions in provinces to integrate RTP methodology into curriculum, text books and class room teaching
  • In collaboration with the Training Officer, leads the development of a specific resource for teachers to promote use of sport and play in academic learning practices
  • Program management and project delivery
  • Supports the designing, planning, and implementing projects in aspects related to enhanced learning and education
  • Supports the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer in monitoring and evaluating the outcomes of RTP’s activities with children and youth and trainings to partner organizations, circulates the findings and suggests best practices
  • Undertakes field visits to interact with children, youth, coaches and project staff while providing relevant support
  • Suggests solutions to expand and deepen RTP approaches at all levels
  • Coordinates with Country Office and Regional Office on material development
  • Assists program team in designing project proposals
  • Advocacy and strengthening and developing partnerships
  • Develops advocacy material for education related outcomes of RTP’s program in Mozambique with consultation and support from Country Office
  • Develops strong relationships with existing and potential partners in the education sector to promote RTP’s approach
  • Shares success stories from other organizations in relevant fields to improve the program
  • Undertakes relevant research in the area of education and shares information with program and project staff
  • Supports the Program Manager in developing Memorandum of Understanding with implementing and strategic partners and assists in overseeing its implementation accordingly
  • Promotes knowledge of RTP mandate and values through representation of RTP amongst stakeholders and potential partners
  • Represents RTP at various platforms
Requisites
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education. A Master’s degree in education or related discipline is an added advantage
  • Three to Five (3-5) years’ experience in planning, managing, and monitoring education programs
  • Coordinating with various stakeholders especially teachers and education institutions as well as writing project proposals and reports
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to set priorities and handling multiple tasks
  • A strong team player (cooperative, participatory, respectful)
  • Comfortable in initiating and fostering relationships with new/multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to initiate and deliver proactive, cost-effective and creative solutions
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent report/proposal writing skills
  • Strong coordination skills with government agencies and other stakeholders
  • Excellent understanding of curriculum development in the respective country
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Portuguese
  • Be a Mozambican National
