WCS is recruiting a Facilitator for four workshops for National Elephant Action Plan, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

Objective
  • Three regional and one national workshop will be held in April and May 2016 to provide input into Mozambique’s NEAP and engage various stakeholders involved in elephant conservation throughout the country in this participative strategic planning process
  • The consultancy is based in Maputo, with travel to the workshop sites
  • The contract will be with WCS Mozambique, but the facilitator will need to coordinate with the ANAC Director responsible for this program of work, as well as the responsible WCS Project Manager
  • The consultancy is expected to start on 23 March and will last for 24-28 days, depending on workplanning
  • It will involve two trips out of Maputo to the regional workshops (possibly Lichinga and Beira)
Methods
  • The facilitator is expected to lead a participative strategic planning exercise in each of the four workshops in order to elicit input from the key stakeholders at each workshop
  • The facilitator is expected to energetically conduct these strategic planning sessions in both Portuguese and English using multiple methods to maximise engagement and input from the attendees
  • The facilitator also needs to support the planning and administration for each workshop
    Outputs Design and facilitation of four 2-day planning workshops, with a pre-prepared and agreed workshop plan and agenda, and workshop materials
  • Handouts/presentations for each workshop session
  • A report for each workshop that includes: i) a written summary of the key planning outputs, ii) a schematic representation of the key planning outputs, iii) a qualitative overview of the workshop, iv) photographs, and v) the raw workshop materials
Requisites
  • Experience facilitating workshops with a range of stakeholders
  • Fluent Portuguese and ability to communicate and write in English
  • Excellent communication, strategic planning, analytical, and writing skills
  • Experience and knowledge of conservation, natural resource management, and/or environmental issues would be an advantage
