PSI is recruiting a Field Research Lead, to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
- PSI – Population Services International is looking for dynamic and highly experienced candidates for the position of Field Research Lead. The ideal candidate, based in Maputo and working under direct supervision of the Senior Evidence Manager, will be responsible for leading a dynamic approach towards adaptive program management through evidenced based insights, manage an interdisciplinary team to collect insights from the target audience and adjust programs accordingly, test various program designs for best results, use of programmatic data for ongoing analysis of the solutions tested in the project and disseminate data appropriately and support evidence-based decision-making
- Special preference will be given to candidates familiar with MIS systems and processes (especially DHIS2): demonstrated ability to oversee quality of multiple current studies; innovative and strategic thinker. This position requires 50-70% travel
Duties
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team to conduct field research in selected provinces
- Test research questions and adapt interventions based on evidence and insights
- Conduct formative research with adolescents, health providers, and community members
- Develop, test and refine interventions
- Collaborate with stakeholders and partners at provincial and community level
- Use interactive techniques to gain insights on adolescents and use evidence based insights to inform the programs
- Ensure M&E systems are in place for Human Centred Design pilots to capture key performance indictors used to evaluate the pilots
- Use the data to course correct and improve the pilot in real time
- Coordinate the presentation of program reports in line with donor reporting requirements
- Work with the Evidence Team to build an evidence for learning and improving project implementation
- Lead evidence strengthening activities to improve staff capacity to use data for decision making
- Document evidence processes and learnings
Requisites
- At least 3 - 5 years of experience in the design, management, analysis, and dissemination of research in public health
- Research background or equivalent experience in public health, behavioral sciences, population studies, psychology, communication, or a related field
- Ability to design and implement a wide range of qualitative health research
- Experience working with adolescents
- Experience implementing programs at the community-level
- Demonstrated ability to inform programmatic decisions using research results
- Excellent writing and presentation skills
- Fluency or strong working knowledge of oral and written Portuguese and English
- Demonstrated ability to oversee quality of multiple current studies
- Substantial experience with electronic data collection, designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems
- Familiar with MIS systems and processes (especially DHIS2) is an advantage
