Financial Controller

Capital Outsourcing Group is hiring a Financial Controller for Chimoio, in Mozambique.

Duties

• Assist in developing, documenting, operating, maintaining, and reviewing the overall accounting function, underlying controls & systems, and supervising of 5 accounting staff to this effect
• Review and distribution of daily reports/ dashboards to operational management and UK holding company
• Compiling of schedules in month end pack for the Group Financial Manager by the 4th working day of the following month
  Custodian of all tax related matters
• Monitoring tax compliance of daily transactions and to research and provide technical advice on an adhoc basis where necessary
• Reviewing of monthly (IVA, IRPS) and yearly tax reports (IRPC) and completion and submission of related returns
• Preparation of local company year-end financial statements to be submitted with income tax returns
• Represent the group in all dealings with local tax authorities
• Provision of professionally worded written Portuguese correspondence (letters) as required from time to time

Requisites

• Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
• 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
• A degree in Accounting. Tecnico de Contas able to sign off financial statements would be beneficial
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles
• Thorough knowledge of how accounting sub-systems & ledgers should function, especially those relating to accounts payable (AP) and inventory
• Experience with creating financial statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• Excellent accounting software user and administration skills (Experience with Accpac would be beneficial)
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft office, especially Excel
• Strong English verbal skills with moderate writing ability
• Excellent verbal and written Portuguese
