Adra Mozambique is recruiting a Gender and Sexual Reproductive Health Officer (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
  • The Adventist Development and Relief Agency -Mozambique (ADRA) is a humanitarian agency operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church to provide individual and community development and disaster relief. ADRA Mozambique is looking for a suitably qualified person for the position of Gender and Sexual Reproductive Health Officer who will lead or support assessments, strategy development, project planning, project management and implementation and report in the sector. The position is based at its headquarters in Maputo Office
  • The incumbent would be required to have experience in the management of project in SRHR and GBV; HIV prevention for vulnerable groups (women, adolescent girls and boys and youth), referral for treatment and counseling. Deep knowledge on Protection Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), as well Complaining and Feedback Mechanism (CFM) is an added value. Possess the ability to work effectively in a team and willing to commit to the Seventh-day Adventist Church and ADRA’s mission, values, and beliefs. Should be available to travel (30% of the time) to provinces where the projects are being implemented
  • Reports to: Programs Director
Duties
  • Plans, implement, coordinates, supervises and evaluates Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Gender and Nutrition activities in the area of project implementation
  • Monitors program progress provides data needed for Monitoring and Evaluation and report writing to be revied by the Program Director
  • Knows and applies donor and agency procedures and regulations
  • Organize and lead the Project Management Committee meetings
  • Assists and collaborates in the design of policies and proposals in the Health, Gender and Nutrition projects
  • Coordinate baseline and assessment of the sector with support from the MEAL Team
  • Coordinate strategic alliances with local and provincial authorities to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the project implementation in alignment with government priorities
  • Coordinate with Universities, schools, DAS and other stakeholders for ownership and successful implementation of the projects
  • Document best practices implemented in the project to be shared with donor, government, ADRA International and other key stakeholders
  • Coordinates with the Head of Human Resources, Programs Director and Regional Director to design and rollout staff capacity development plan
  • Ensures the sustainability and efficiency of the project by establishing a harmonious working environment with key partners
  • Identifies appropriate strategies and technical messages to reach beneficiaries
  • Review and design training material packages for staff and beneficiaries
  • Conduct periodic visits and evaluates the implementation and impact of project interventions in the implementation regions and provide support to the district supervisors, officers and technicians
  • Participate in national and international events in representation of ADRA Mozambique
  • Participate in ADRA Networking international learning lab
  • Ensures proper use of equipment and resources under his/her department
Requisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing or Medical Field, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRH&R), Gender, Social Science, Social Work, or relevant postgraduate qualification. Demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relations with communities and particularly with vulnerable groups
  • At least 5 years of experience managing integrated community development projects on SRHR and Gender
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Portuguese and English
  • Knowledge and strong skills in M&E, report writing and documentation
  • Be fluent in Ronga and Shangana is an advantage
  • Strong expertise in project management, including reporting
  • In-depth technical expertise on SRHR and Gender
  • Deep knowledge Social Behaviour Change
  • Demonstrated experience in working with vulnerable groups
  • Practical experience in community participation approaches, tools as well feedback mechanisms
  • Experience in mentoring, coaching, and skills transfer
  • Strong English-language and Portuguese communication skills, both interpersonal and written
