Winrock International is recruiting a Grants Assistant, to be based in Nampula, Mozambique.

  • Winrock International proposes to facilitate adoption of good agricultural practices and technology to increase resilience to climate change and achieve sustainable increases in agricultural productivity in Mozambique’s Nacala Corridor through the Feed the Future (FTF) Mozambique Resilient Agricultural Markets Activities (RAMA)-Nacala Corridor, implemented through an associate award under the Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) Leader with Associate
  • Winrock will coordinate closely with the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Resilient Agricultural Markets Activities (RAMA)-Beira Corridor program, Partnering for Innovation (PFI) and the anticipated Feed the Future Value Chain activities, to align objectives, coordinate activities, and leverage investments
  • Winrock will draw on our experience scaling climate smart innovations for improved productivity and our international network of volunteer experts
  • Position summary: The Grants Assistant will be responsible for grant financial reports, sub-grant tracking system, provide financial orientation to sub-grantee and following responsibilities under the guidance of Grants Manager in attaining the RAMA-Nacala grants objectives
Duties
  • Support in the review of Grants Budget
  • Provide financial orientation to sub-grantee
  • Review of financial backups as well as other documents submitted by the sub-grantee comprehending current grant reporting procedures of USAID and Winrock/RAMA-Nacala
  • Assist in monitoring compliance issues concerning sub-grants provision Government of Mozambique guidelines
  • Visit to grantee organization for institutional strength verification and especially financial system
  • Review books of accounts of the grantee organization concerning the RAMA-Nacala grant activities
  • Develops and maintains a complete sub-grant tracking system that provides information for the comparison of budget vs. actual expenditure
  • Creates electronic and hard copy file/folders for all new grant awards
  • Ensure that all grant financial reports are up to date, comprehensive, and complete
  • He/she should be aware of VAT/TAX procedure of Government of Mozambique
  • Obtain recommendation on periodic invoice payment from Grants Manager and submit the documents to RAMA Accounting section
  • Carry out any other assignments as directed by Grants Manager
Requisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies/Business Administration
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience in similar positions, ideally on USG-or other donor funded projects
  • Knowledge of Quick Book and other accounting software will have added advantage
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Portuguese
  • Ability to use MS Office, (outlook, word, excel and powerpoint) is mandatory
  • Person with high integrity, and commitment to organizational values and principles
