US Embassy is recruiting a Health Communications Specialist, to be based in Maputo.

Duties
  • The U.S. Embassy in Maputo is seeking one individual for the position of Health Communications Specialist at the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) of the American Embassy Maputo
  • The Communication Specialist will be part of the CDC-Communication team and will report to the Office of the Director
  • The incumbent will design, implement and evaluate communication activities, targeted towards both internal and external audience, to create awareness of CDC’s strategy, mission, goals, and objectives in Mozambique
  • The incumbent will be expected to utilize innovative and traditional communication strategies to accomplish this goal. The incumbent will also support CDC’s HIV patient advocacy program, and is responsible for increasing media opportunities and visibility for it
  • The incumbent will also work closely with host government, implementing partners, and CDC technical staff to provide technical assistance that increase patient literacy and awareness with the aim to increase adherence to HIV treatment
  • Will also ensure CDC implementing partners are in compliance with protocols related to branding and communication
  • Will be responsible for coordinating with CDC’s implementing partners to execute events and media opportunities and will work closely with other USG agencies in the U.S. Embassy on the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) activities
Requisites
  • University Bachelor\'s Degree in Communication, or Journalism, or Media, or Broadcasting, or Publishing, or
    Printing, or Public Relations, or Advertising/Marketing, or Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, Sociology, Anthropology, Demography, International Development, or Behavioral Science is required
  • This position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in communications media, experience writing and editing health or scientific materials and adapting technical material for general audience, developing messages, writing health communications materials, and adapting scientific and technical information for a variety of audiences
  • Level III (fluency – speaking/reading/writing) in English is required
  • Level IV (fluency – speaking/reading/writing) in Portuguese is required
