CICV is recruiting a Humanitarian Engagement Adviser, to be based in Pemba, Mozambique.
Duties
- Understands and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
- Identifies and strengthens a network of priority interlocutors in Cabo Delgado
- Contributes to the Stakeholder Analysis/Mapping, supporting the HoSD and HoO in identifying priority stakeholders
- Advises on best approaches and strategies for interaction with stakeholders, including culturally appropriate behaviour and discourse
- Monitors political and security situations, providing advice to the HoSD on relevant incidents and supporting security access matters
- Represents the ICRC in an appropriate way during activities, in meetings, and in the field, ensuring a professional image at all times
- Takes responsibility for professional learning and development, contributing to the ongoing improvement of the ICRC's understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends
- Provides written and verbal feedback/analysis on the evolution of the context/security and regarding networking to the HoSD
- Advises on operations, notably on potential impact of assistance, protection, and communication activities on communities
- Collects and shares information to improve the ICRC’s understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends and responses
Requisites
- University degree or comparable relevant professional experience
- 4-6 years’ work experience in a relevant field of activity
- Field experience and/or already existing networks are a prerequisite and can advantageously replace an academic diploma
- Very good knowledge of spoken and written Portuguese or English, very good spoken knowledge of key local languages (KiMwani, KiSwaheli, EMakua, ShiMakonde)
- Proven ability to build and maintain a network of contacts
- Demonstrated ability to engage with local communities and understanding of the socio-political context in Cabo Delgado
- In-depth personal knowledge of the social, cultural, and political assigned environment (Mocimboa da Praia and nearby districts)
- Computer literacy
