UNHCR is recruiting an Information Management Associate (m/f), to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
Description
  • All UNHCR staff members are accountable to perform their duties as reflected in their job description. They do so within their delegated authorities, in line with the regulatory framework of UNHCR which includes the UN Charter, UN Staff Regulations and Rules, UNHCR Policies and Administrative Instructions as well as relevant accountability frameworks.   • The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is an international organization with the mandate to assist persons in need of international protection; asylum seekers; refugees; statelessness; and internally displaced persons. The UNHCR operation in Mozambique has its main office in Maputo and field office in Nampula and sub-office in Pemba. The working language in the UNHCR offices in Mozambique is English
  • The Information Management Associate (IMA) supports the Information Management Officer (IMO) in IM related coordination work of the National Protection Cluster (NPC) in Maputo, Mozambique, including the development and dissemination of information management products. The incumbent will also assist in operationalizing the NPC Information Management Strategy such as ensuring data standards and quality are met, compiles and explores data from all populations of concern covered by the Cluster. S/he supports the team managing the NPC and its Member Partners in the choice of indicators for/and monitoring NPC activities and the progress of NPC contribution to the Humanitarian Response Plan 2021. The IMA will also assist in the establishment of an IM system that supports Cluster related work. Furthermore, the candidate will liaise with partners and represent National Protection Cluster in relevant meetings. The candidate should have related education or training in demograph, statistics, social sciences or other related areas/field
  • The candidate needs to have experience with handling complex data; excellent computer skills (in MS Office), advanced skills in MS Excel (e.g. Pivot tables), functions and basic skills in development of infographic materials through Adobe Illustrator and Adobe design; basic/advanced skills in the use of ArcGIS and/or other mapping software; basic/advanced skills in the use of data collection platforms such as Kobo; demonstrated reporting and writing skills in English; experience with handling multi-sectorial information/data and demonstrated understanding of different data collection methodologies and experience in IM Cluster Coordination work

Duties
  • Operationalize country-specific common data standards and promote them with partners, including UNHCR data standards and the IASC Common Operational Datasets
  • Compile and aggregate information elements required to produce standardized information products and implement data/information collection plans for baseline and context-specific data
  • Collect, collate and process information and perform data quality and consistency control
  • Produce summary statistics
  • Support the coordination of data collection teams
  • Support and leverage geographic data for map production and use in geographic information systems (GIS)
  • Share UNHCR data with partner agencies and maintain Portal data and information in-line with agreed frequencies
  • Participate in Needs Assessment processes, specifically in data collection, processing/collation and data exploration
  • Liaise with partners and represent UNHCR in meetings related to the functions
  • Make recommendations and provide advice on the technical information management requirements
  • Perform other related duties as required
Requisites
  • For G6 - 3 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 2 years relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher
  • Information Technology; Statistics; Social Sciences; HCR Operatnl Dta Mgmt Lrng Prg
  • Experience with handling confidential data and demonstrated understanding of different data collection methodologies
  • Experience in web design and software development is an asset. Ability to formulate IM-related technical requirements and Operating Procedures
