CISM is recruiting a Junior Health Economist, to be based in Manhiça.
Duties
- Help with preparation of tools for data collection
- Provide support in data management, cleaning and analysis
- Support the economic team on the elaboration of a rigorous impact evaluation identification strategy, this includes working with researchers and implementers to identify the key questions to be addressed, the outcome indicators to be used, data sources and sample sizes
- Support finalizing data collection instruments, including questionnaires and field procedures
- Build capacity for data collection, data management and data analysis within field workers
- Contribute to the elaboration of manuscripts for peer review publications
- Contribute to elaborating new projects
- Provide on site standardized and costing data collection
- Support the elaboration of a cost-benefit analysis of malaria elimination
- Perform priority research and analysis
- Support in the dissemination of research results, and its translation into the elimination strategies
- Support in the elaboration of a document to make a case for the investment of funds on malaria elimination efforts in Southern Mozambique. This document will support the advocacy activities and secure additional funds for malaria elimination
Requisites
Education and Experience
- Degree in economics/health economics
- Trained and experienced in quantitative methods. Specifically, knowledge of econometrics using the software package STATA and/or of cost-effectiveness analysis using either Microsoft EXCEL or TreeAge
- Experience in the design and building of a questionnaire
- At least 1 year of experience in research focused on health and economic development
Languages
- Knowledge of English and Portuguese. Excellent writing skills in both languages are essential for this position

- High level of conceptual, quantitative and strategic thinking
- Solid understanding of quantitative methods and impact evaluation methodologies
- Computer skills especially statistical analysis using SPSS, Ms Access, STATA, Excel, among others
- Able to effectively work both as a team member and independently
- Interested in starting a PhD in the near future
