The Aga Khan Academy, Maputo is the third in a network of Aga Khan Academies established by His Highness the Aga Khan. It follows the highly successful model established by the first two Academies, which opened in Mombasa, Kenya in 2003 and Hyderabad, India in 2011. We are currently inviting applications for a Junior School Class Teacher (K3, Grades 1-3) who is a person of high integrity, values driven and passionate about learning. The ideal candidate will know how to enable young people to achieve at the highest levels, in all areas of their lives.

Duties
  • Develop and teach a relevant and meaningful localized curriculum for the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), which meets the requirements of the IB at authorization
  • Engage in effective teaching practice that embraces inquiry-based teaching and learning methods, and differentiates activities to meet the needs of all students
  • Authentically assess, record and track the progress of students
Requisites
  • Post-graduate qualification or equivalent in primary education
  • Significant experience in junior school education, including proven experience in the PYP
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment
  • Proven record of effective collaborative working
  • Successful experience as an IB workshop leader
  • Familiarity with using ICT in teaching and learning
  • Fluency in Portuguese, both written and spoken
  • Familiarity with the Mozambican and African context
  • Experience working in the developing world
