Justice & Gender Coordinator

World Renew-Mozambique is recruiting a Justice & Gender Coordinator, to be based in Tete, Mozambique.

  • Reports To: World Renew Southern Africa Ministry Team (SAMT) Leader
  • Status: Full-time, salaried, local hire
  • Location: Tete Mozambique, Lilongwe Malawi OR Lusaka Zambia
  • Purpose: To support the justice and gender dimensions of World Renew supported programs in Southern Africa (Malawi, Zambia & Mozambique) by providing technical assistance, resources, guidance, training, and support to World Renew staff and local partner organizations
Duties
Strengthen the justice components of the World Renew program such that programs will
  • Ensure inclusive participation in community planning
  • Incorporate concrete action steps to address injustice, especially systemic injustice
  • Work proactively toward justice, mainstreaming justice into every program
  • Develop resources and training for Advocacy Committees in communities we serve
  • Facilitate workshops and mentoring on proactive justice with a Biblical worldview for World Renew and partner organization staff
  • Coordinate advocacy and activism activities in the region
  • Provide leadership to the trauma healing aspects of World Renew’s work
Strengthen the gender justice components of World Renew programs such that programs will
  • Use best practices in gender analysis and gender-sensitive program approaches throughout the project cycle
  • Promote in-depth behavior change especially by addressing worldview, values, cultural practices, and gender-specific roles that affect gender justice and health-related issues
  • Equip partner staff to use tools to facilitate conversations around gender justice
Coordinate communication with others, including
  • Networking and building collaboration with other relevant government agencies, non-government organizations, private sector stakeholders in the community, World Renew Teams and working groups, and related networks in order to streamline implementation, avoid duplication, and learn from others
  • Ensuring coordination of the justice plans, programming, and proposal writing in the region with World Renew’s Program Excellence team
  • In collaboration with field staff, evaluating and monitoring progress of justice and gender components of programs, then preparing briefing materials and reports to communicate results and issues to donors, Ministry Teams, and visitors where necessary
  • Mobilize resources: working in close collaboration with country teams and partner organizations, identify high value fundraising opportunities for justice programming. Ensure that new proposals comply with country strategies and policies, as well as donor requirements
Requisites
  • Mature Christian commitment and ability to work respectfully with various church denominations within the cultural context of Southern Africa
  • Legal right to work in Mozambique, Malawi or Zambia
  • Bachelor’s degree in community development (or a related field), Master’s degree is preferred
  • Significant experience in supporting/implementing justice interventions. Experience in mainstreaming justice into programming from a Biblical foundation will be an advantage
  • Proven ability to integrate gender mainstreaming approaches in agricultural, nutrition, health, livelihoods, and WASH programming. Experience in behavior change analysis is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in consultation, coaching, facilitation, and participatory training to improve integrated community development programs which strengthen communities
  • Management skills especially in planning, budgeting, financial management, analyzing data, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation. Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision and with a professional and self-motivated work style
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary for communicating well with cross-cultural stakeholders (donors, partners, staff, constituents, institutions) and writing superb grant proposals
  • Competency in the use of internet/email and ability to produce professional documents including spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations. High-speed typing skills
  • High standards of integrity, stewardship and accountability
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Portuguese are required. Fluency in another language from the region is an advantage
