TechnoServe is recruiting a Knowledge Management and Communications Specialist (m/f), to be based in Nampula, Mozambique.
Description
- The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded the five-year Feed the Future Promoting Market Systems, Innovation and Resilience (PREMIER) activity in Mozambique. The PREMIER activity will facilitate the development of an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable market system to boost agriculture-led economic growth in the Nacala corridor of northern Mozambique. The activity will use a market systems approach and will create opportunities for vulnerable, women and youth in the agricultural sector to increase income and engage in business activities. PREMIER will do so by:
- Enhancing access to finance across sectors for the rural poor and SMEs
- Enhancing risk mitigation management
- Building the capacity of smallholder producers and agribusinesses
- Increasing incomes for smallholder farmers
- Establishing strong and transparent relationships between actors
- Expanding employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, especially for youth and women
- Position Overview
- The Communications Specialist will be responsible for all of PREMIER’s internal and external communication deliverables. The specialist will assure timely approvals of external communication and events from the donor. The specialist will report directly to the Chief of Party, and is expected to be in regular contact with USAID’s DOC unit and TechnoServe’s corporate communication officers, and will support the entire PREMIER team
Duties
- The main duties of the Communications Specialist are to:
- Lead the quarterly and annual reporting process
- Assure timely delivery of the weekly project highlights to USAID
- Assure that visual documentation, mainly photos, are compliant with donor requirements and are available for public use
- Assist project staff, and in particular the COP, with developing targeted communication products and materials, including technical assistance for writing and editing presentations, speeches, blogs, journal publications, lessons learned documents, and impact reports
- Regularly communicate the project’s activities and impacts to TechnoServe country office and headquarters and stakeholders
- Implement the project’s marketing and branding Plan and ensure the project’s compliance with the Plan
- Manage and oversee the development and content of web domains and associated content
- Organize the project’s public events and provide support to USAID when requested
- Lead the dissemination of information and learning to project partners and stakeholders, including supporting the management of communication platforms such as newsletters and project websites
- Manage relationships with public media
Requisites
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree required in relevant field. Master’s preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience in a relevant competency area, including communications, international development, marketing or other
- 3 or more years implementing communication strategies for donor funded projects, preferably US Government funded
- Proven experience with the timely production of high quality quarterly and annual reports
- Experience in organizing events, and developing and managing a project website
- Ability to interact with media and government on behalf of the project
- Strong communication skills
- Fluency in English is required
