GE is recruiting a Lead Analyst, to be based in Maputo.
Duties
The key role will be to ensure the integrity of the financials for the business. The role will be responsible for tracking financial performance and driving reporting and measurement of the Eskom Medupi contract, the single largest equipment contract ever won by IS in the region. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, be able to develop and execute objectives for self and others and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Controllership
Execute Controllership game plan for the region, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of its reported financial statements. This task includes the following elements:
- Be responsible for adequacy of internal controls and adherence to GE policies
- Support the Monthly closings & reporting
- Trial balance & Supplemental Data reporting, including quarter end commentaries
- Support Monthly account reconciliations and in particular the Non ES reconcilations
- Support the Statutory and Fiscal reporting, including support on external audits (Tax Authorities, KPMG)
- Identify potential risks & opportunities, presenting workable solutions to address them
- Be lead for representing the region in quarterly balance sheet reviews and annual pre-close review processes
- Work closely with Global Operations Finance - Local and in CoE
- Report finance status and key metrics to the Global Controllership
- Ad hoc requests from headquarters
Medupi Project Finance
- Drive the Medupi Margin review process
- Prepare the quarterly Medupi Rev Rec Model for Equipment and Services
- Develop and maintain a Medupi master finance file
Other Finance responsibilities
- Support annual FIFO calculation process
- Drive controllership over inventory balances at site, ensuring completion of regular stock takes and tracking of any aged items
- Driving positive working capital cash flow
- Drive AR balance management
- Ad hoc requests from headquarters
- Support the implementation of the new SAP – ‘Project Torque’
Requisites
- University or college degree in Finance/Accounting
- Fluent in English
- At least 4 years of industry experience in relevant finance or accounting roles
- Knowledge of US GAAP accounting
- Knowledge of local accounting & tax rules
- Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to work independently with limited supervision on key business objectives
- Strong communication and inter personal skills
- Strong analytic skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers generate alternatives and drive positive change
- Adaptable/Flexible: being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances
